Tatreez Tea Towel — Watermelon Motif

For generations, Palestinian women stitched their lives into fabric — turning tatreez embroidery into a hidden language that preserved identity and history.

This tea towel features the watermelon motif. When the Palestinian flag was banned, the watermelon became a quiet symbol of identity because it shared the same colors. Women continued stitching their history into cloth, even when they couldn't express it openly.

Today, women artisans in the West Bank continue this tradition through Darzah, hand-embroidering each tea towel — a labor of love that takes 1.5 hours and provides fair-wage employment to marginalized women keeping heritage alive.
